Now that the Yankees have gone down the dump this season, starting with their worst record since 1991 it is time to start anew. Finally, the Yanks have learned the hard way that the best way to make your roster stronger is through the farm system. I will not just list the top-10 Yankee prospects this season, but show you where they will be the most help within the organization, and bring yet another championship to the pinstripes.
The top prospects of this year are:
- Aaron Judge, OF Age:23
- Gary Sanchez, C Age: 23
- Jorge Mateo, SS Age: 20
- James Kaprielian, SP Age: 22
- Ian Clarkin, SP Age: 21
- Tyler Wade, IF Age: 21
- Wilkerman Garcia, SS Age: 18
- Dustin Fowler, OF Age: 21
- Rob Refsnyder, 2B/IF Age: 25
- Jacob Lindgren, RP Age: 23
2/10 of the prospects are starting pitchers which will need to be addressed after this season due to C.C. Sabathia’s expiring contract, and aging rotation. Once the rotation is solidified, we can focus on the depth of the lineup and defensive strategy.
With aging veterans such as Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann, Alex Rodriguez, and Mark Teixeira the Yankees will need all the depth it can get. They will need help in the outfield so bringing up either Judge or Fowler will be in their best interest. Also, having at least two utility infielders will be good too, due to the fact they have had many injuries in those positions (Mark Teixeira).
Once all these prospects have grown up, and have worked on their game to the point of promotion to the Majors, watch out! The Yankees will creep up out of the hole they have dug themselves into and force themselves into the Postseason, and make some noise!
Up next: A three game set against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The Yankees will have Tanaka, Pineda, and Eovaldi against Henry Owens, Rick Porcello, and David Price.
